Do I retain the full rights to the video, copyright and all that stuff?
Clients can use the finished video whenever, wherever they like. However, SunPop Studios holds the copyright for 1 simple reason.
A copyright can be very restrictive when it comes to the sharing and propagation of online videos, and the vast majority of the time our clients want their videos to be re-distributed and displayed in as many places as possible. After all, one of the greatest strengths of online video is ability to spread a message into the far corners of the internet.
Rather than a strict copyright, we apply a Creative Commons License to our work. That kind of license maintains the helpful aspects of a copyright, while also allowing people to pass the video around as long as they don't tamper with the video's message. (a non-derivative works license)
As a result, the finished video is yours to use whenever, wherever you like, while also tapping into a core strength of the internet... The ability to exponentially grow, or go "viral" as some people like to say.
